This fall sees the return of “The Stud” and adds an extra layer of edge, pairing masculine with feminine, and smooth polished leather with lace. Get ready to purr-fect your style with forward-trending faux fur animal prints that evoke a sleek, feline allure and a hint of sex appeal.
As a trendsetter, I’ve consistently forecasted the next big thing. In the early days of SUVs, I drove a Mitsubishi, predicting the future of automobiles. Japanese tourists bowed in respect, and skeptics took notice. I seem to have the ingredients to the secret sauce, predict before it boils and turn off the heat before it’s overdone!
At Morton’s Restaurant, in response to a diner “How does a girl like that drive a truck?” I confidently told a curious onlooker, ‘This truck represents the future.’ My prediction proved prophetic, as the SUV revolution paved the way for iconic vehicles like the Range Rover and, nearly three decades later, Tesla’s Cyber Truck.
As seasoned buyer, I’ve successfully forecasted style directions through fashion forecasting, jewelry design, or strategic connections, my eponymous www.gillianjulius.com collection has showcased innovative, trend-setting pieces, ahead of the curve yet timeless in color, direction and design. In addition to fashion and through my recently launched www.gillianjulius-networthing.com I have connected individuals in start-ups with forward-thinking companies, bridging gaps between creativity, commerce, and connection. I’ve helped numerous individuals and organizations navigate the intersection of style, business, and innovation while helping others monetize the connections.
While predicting the future of design and commerce I have remained true to my aesthetic, never swayed by a current trend and never reactive to a look that has bridged Social Networks platforms and pages and adorned the necks of celebrities. A trend, ranging in price point, from low to high to even higher. Time to untangles those gold layers, free yourself from the chains that bind you and move to a more impactful look! There is a SILVER lining!
The world of fashion jewelry, as I predicted, is undergoing a transformative shift. Going or soon to be gone are the days of Gold layered necklaces and subtle accessories. Today, statement pieces are reclaiming center stage and with them comes a bold, edgier aesthetic that is redefining fashion for the near future. Consumers are gravitating towards more statement pieces that exude confidence and pair well with the look of 90s with its sharper linear lines. It’s time to ditch the layered gold necklaces adorned with charms, birth signs, initials and enameled or diamond encrusted beads. This season and for seasons to come, opt rather for statement making necklines. Think draping cowl necks, chunky turtle necks and sculptural effects with one shoulder looks. Fashion is once again edging closer to refined, streamlined and sophisticated.
Silver once considered a secondary metal to Gold, has emerged as a favorite amongst fashionistas, it’s sleek modern aesthetic and versatility has made it a fashion forward and ideal choice for statement pieces of not only jewelry, but in bags, belts and footwear as well. It’s the return of “The Stud” and grommet encrusted accessories and footwear, but keep in mind, accessorize rather than dramatize, a little goes a long way. Iridium, a sleek dark grey gunmetal, has long been a standout in my jewelry collection since 2010 and often imitated but rarely created by my detractors. With the addition of Swarovski crystals, this masculine finish transforms into a feminine avant-garde masterpiece, blending edgy sophistication with glamour and glitz. Timeless and versatile, Iridium pairs effortlessly with fall’s rich hues and spring’s softer tones, cementing silver and iridium’s staying power in not only the world of fashion, but in home décor and also front and center in the automotive industry. The roads and highways are awash in shades of silver to anthracite and all hues of greys, begging the question, did fashion influence automotive or did automotive influence fashion?
To offset this season more linear looks fashion has added the more feminine touches like pearls and bows. Fall fashion is written in black and white with touches of intense color from fire engine red to burgundy and often softened with shades of blue. Denim is here to stay though now in a “WIDER SELECTION” and is no longer just “SLIM” pickings. Where denim trends were moving towards a “WASH OUT” it seems that things have become a little more intense with the introduction of Indigo blue taking color to new depths of intensity and from street to sophistication. Beyonce’s “Carter Cowboy” impact moving the denim trend from the ranch to board room in the form of broad-shouldered jackets, suits and TRENCH COAT. You can take the look out of Britain but you can’t take England out of the look. What was old and a staple is new again. We can’t sugarcoat it. Coats are making a big statement this fall and are here to stay for a while.
In times of conflict or societal unrest, fashion often reflects the cultural mood. Khaki’s utilitarian, practical aesthetic gains popularity as a symbol of: Utility chic, Pragmatism and Neutrality. As tensions rise, khaki’s appeal increases, reflecting our collective desire for stability, practicality, and resilience and comfort. Since the launch of my collection in 2008 the world has gone from depression to Covid to recession and now conflict. My popular khaki collection of bracelets, with added burnished tubes for warmth of color, highlighted with shades of pale gold Swarovski crystal balls give an elevated touch of glamour and a glimmer of hope and optimism in a time of uncertainty and unrest.
This season instead of playing it safe or falling back on old staples, fall is taking charge, making a bold statement and giving fashion a silver lining! Its time to change it up. Be Bold Be Brave State your Style !
